Team Genesis provides valuable team, educational and social experiences for its participants. These experiences provide a source of recreation and simultaneously improve athletic skills, life skills and health/ fitness by offering experiences in teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play, cooperation and leadership. Direct emphasis is given to encourage excellence in education and character and to promote the successful achievement of personal goals.
As part of the leadership development portion of the program, students will be required to "give back" to the community that supports their program. This activities will range from mentoring younger students to assisting with community projects.
In addition to leadership skill development, we want our students to be well-rounded and receive as much exposure as possible to the arts, different cultures and area history. For this reason, each student will be assigned to a host family that they will meet with on a weekly basis for family meals, activities and the overall experience of spending time with a family whose background is different than that of the student. Students will also have the opportunity to attend events in the arts, and tour historic sites. Examples include visit to the Association of Diplomatic Studies and Training, a Washington Wizards game, tour of Washington, D.C., Lynchburg Museum and Point of Honor, Lynchburg Symphony and The African History Museum (Lynchburg).
